I had recently come across the problem of my wacom intuos tablet producing a heavy squeak whenever I rested my arm on it. It is not an isolated issue as others have had it happen as well. it is not anything that affects the functionality of the device, it just becomes annoying a it can get quite loud.
Wacom counts this as unintended and can offer repair, but this is unnecessary. If anyone comes across this issue, albeit less common and only an inconvenience, the resolution is simple. Unscrew the back of the tablet and open it up. Be careful, obviously, and make certain everything is in its place. Asdjuct the prastic cover, and then screw it back together ,but not as tight. By intentionally leaving some of the screws a bit loose it lessens the tension beteen the plastic top and back alleviating the squeak. A big thanks to my great friend for assisting me with this.
As I said before, it isn't a huge important issue, but it's there for anyone who has the annoying squeak grating their nerves when they are working.

This is a response to a journal posted in 2006 that really helped me in 2013, I would've never in a million years thought to do this.

Thanks man, keep up the good work. <3

Or... maybe your tablet's actually a mouse that's been transfigured in to a tablet by those crazy Voodoo priests at the Wacom factory XD;

That's odd. I've never had that problem. Does it only happen with Intuos, though? 'Cause I have a graphire. Although..We've got about 10 Intuos's at my school, and none of them have had that problem so far. Maybe just luck.

I'm uncertain if it is only with Intuos. I only have an Intuos 3, and I know that it is subject to this issue. beyond that, I cannot say.

i have an intuos 3 at school and i tried pushing on it and it wouldn't squeak. i probably shouldn't push my luck, though. XD

it tends to be the result of warping from weather changes or a lot of pressure on one side (resting am arm on one side but not the other constantly).

Thanks for the 411 Jeff! ;)

I appreciate it. And if it does happen to my Intuos 3 and that solution doesn't work, I'll try and give it a slice of cheese to see if it stops squeekin'.
lol... {the faint sound of crickets chirping}...er, ok...bad joke.

What makes the squeak though? And are we talking about like a squeaky hinge or some kind of electronic hiss?

the things are built very well. They went with the best rule for electronics; keep it as simple as possible to ensure the fewest amount of things can go wrong. I have al ot of respect for them as a company, their products are solid and their service even better. Even their appropriated resellers for sepcialty parts have been excellent. That was proven when I needed a replacement sheet for the cover on mine.
Anyhow, i'd like to talk to you about a few things at some point. I'm taking nick to the airport next weekend, perhaps sometime the following week i can call you up, you could come over an tag some games or smthin, just us guys like back in the day.

Can't tell you how many times I've fixed things just by taking them apart and putting them back together. Without really knowing *why* it then started working.

Squeak squashed!

I never had that problem personally, and I went thru a Graphire 2, 3, and now using Intuos 2 and Cintiq 21UX. So far only my graphire 2 broke, and that was the cord being repeatedly bent on my part. I tell ya, wacom things are pretty sturdy!

I have that problem sometimes, all you have to do is lift up the sheet that you use as the input pad, and clean the underside of it (note that the top of the sheet is NOT removable) at least, it works for me

:iconjayaxer:

The issue was not under the input sheet, rather it was with the bottom of the tablet itself, where one wouldrest their arm or wrist.

Its a digital art tablet. I basically lets u draw directly on the computer like u would with a pencil. It makes coloring, inking, shading, etc. a lot easier. Look up Wacom on google ^^

one thing you could try is unscrewing all the screws, putting Triflow(a lubricant) on the tip of your finger and rubbing it over all of the holes where the screws go through. be careful not to spray it on anything, and only use your finger to apply it

:iconjayaxer:
JayAxer Featured By Owner Dec 1, 2006
the issue was not with the screws or where they connect, it was with the tightness of the 2 casings that forced them to rub too closely and squeak across the lining.

Mine squeaks too but I always noticed it just in the tip of the stylus when I use the spring tip. Maybe it is actually the tablet itself....
