Apparently Archie finally got around to printing the story I did for them like 2 years ago in recent issue #166. That story was the last story I did with them, and is one of the most rushed piecers due to circumstances I, out of respect for the company, shouldn't get into. Even some of the artwork was changed to look pretty wonky. Afterwards I had told them I would not be doing stories with them again and essentially quit working with them. ( i had made an exception for that story when I had said i would not be doing stories already a time prior).
This has people thinking I am still doing work with the book. This is not the case. i have not worked with Archie for a long time now, and will not be returning to do Sonic stories or anything of the sort. So please do not let the recent publication lead you to believe otherwise. Thanks~

For anyone who might care, I AM bundling up really old originals, for like 20 dollars for 15 or something like that depending on which ones.

Also, I still have a couple Leigh Portfolios left, 13 full colour plus BG image prints for 35 plus shipping. This will NOT be reprinted.
Also the art cd for 20 dollars plus shipping. That is 400+ total images, some old, some new, some high res versions of stuff already seen, some sketches ,etc. Tag me up if interested.

Still miss your art in the book. You and Spaz are some of the comic's high water marks.

It was really a shame to see you go man. I've stuck with the comic for years because of brilliant artwork from you and others like the irrepressible Spaz (unfortunately it wasn't for the story - I'm of the school of thought that ArchieSonic peaked with the EndGame saga of 47-50). Both yours and Spaz's artwork was something that I truly looked forward to seeing each month, and it also inspired me to push my own art forward. Thank you so much for that. While we will all miss seeing your art each month in the comics, I think we all agree that Archie's screwed you around. Good luck with all your future endeavours. ^.^

I recognized your work when I looked through the newest issue. I thought you had left already, and it looks like you have. You and Spaz brought a lot of life to that series and I'll miss seeing you draw Sonic. Still, throughout all of my many years of reading the comics, I've suspected the troubles that happen behind the scenes. There was that one time span, where they hired someone who was ridiculously terrible, to draw a lot of issues. Maybe it was a financial thing, or they thought their primary young audience wouldn't care. Still, if you could give me any inside info on archie, it would be very appreciated and I would keep it to myself. Thanks.

ah, so that explains it...though why would they print out a story you did a while back? Kind of an odd move, but I guess Archie can do what they want >.>

i thought there was something not quite right with the artwork. i put it down to the inker and colourist misunderstanding your pencils again when i read through that issue.
it didn't help that the comic has been printed badly on most page. ^^;

after seeing dub comparing his pencils to the finished archie comic, i can see how much detail can usually be lost. 'tis a shame.

i still don't get what's going on with sally's face in the last panel of page two. she's got two random blue dots on her chin. oo what's with them?

I can't tell what is what on some parts. Original pencils moving on to be inked has mixed results. At times they alter art through in house art department based on editor opinion to either hold forced standards or a changed opinion based on the script. Other times the art just gets sloppy because the inker gets lazy or isn't up to snuff. Sometimes bad scans happen with colourists. i had a few stories mangled by poor inkers. A lot can be lost.

i guess that's just what happens when a comic is the result of a group of people, expecially if they don't all work in the same place.
at least we can see your art as how it should look here on DA and your website.

Pellerito? actually pellerito isn't a bad guy. In my experience of working with him he was fair and stood the middle ground he was forced to by higher ups and the like. Thing is that the bottom line of the book does not always match up with the desires of those who put effort into the book. You cannot always blame one or two people. At times it is actually someone else entirely.
The main thing here is that quality will never be 120% due to the way the operation is run. I wouldn't hold it agains't pellerito and his editing, though, because he never made a decision that didn't make sense to me, in the scope of what I was working with him on.

XD I stopped reading the Sonic archie comics long ago, having lost all respect for the authors when they tried to merge the games into the comic's story line. So, I havn't even kept up with anything past comic 120, or something.

Sup man! Yeah, I knew you were gone a while back. Good for you man. From what I've seen, it's almost like Archie doesn't care who draws the interiors anymore. I pick up an issue here and there because the covers look so awesome, but then I open them up and it's like...wtf? I don't know why you, Dawn, Maxwell or Mercadoocasio left or why Spaz doesn't do interiors anymore, but I'm sure it was for a good reason. I heard Archied "dicked" their artists. Personally, I think y'all should all get together and form your own studio and try to get the bid for a new Sonic comic series and blow that Archie one out the window because the one y'all worked on were the best ones ever drawn. Damn that princess...Peach is a skank!

Damn, I was really excited there when I saw that, too; you were definitely one of the book's very best.

I suppose this might explain the Heroes outfit for Rouge, though.

Oh well, it was still good to see your Sonic work again. Sounds like there might be more not on this DevArt account, is there a place I can see it?

the heroes outfit was requested by the editor to be what Rouge wore for that story, there was no choice in the matter.

as far as more art, i don't post all that I do, but here and my website axerindustries.com are the only places at the mo that I tend to upload when I get around to it.

Given Archie's obvious way of "toning down" the emotions that fanartists draw into their work, I'm not particularly surprised to hear you quit working with them...though I was aware of this after the large gap of time between your pencilling and other artists being used instead.

Having not seen #166 or any issue prior (I'm more of a Fred Perry fan, Gold Digger, etc), I can only imagine what they did to 'tone down' your pencils. It seems that in order to not display 'weak' characters, they're supposed to be robot-like in appearance. I've never understood that part of the comics industry, guess I never will really.

I've lost interest in what Archie has to "say" about Sonic. It just seems replacing someone that was so obvious a flaw with someone who hasn't seen the scope of the damage done beforehand seems a bit to me like plothole central.

That being what it is, I continue to enjoy your work and I continue to be inspired to do better in my own ventures because of it.

Never change, man.

I must agree that your contributions to the book will be sorely missed, seeing as it was very inspirational to so many people and so much above par to any of the other artists that worked in the comic. I can understand and respect that you had your reasons for leaving, as all artists seem to leave archie for one reason or another. Fortunately, we can still see your awesome work here on DA. Thanks Axer

interesting, i never know that you did some storie for archie sonic ! personnaly, i prefer the story done by sonic team ^^; actually, i'm creating a sonic game so, i'm writing story for this game i'm builting with great artists from DA : rongs1234, exocentric, anuvia and joey-b. thoses artists give me great help for the conception graphic in fact, i'm just a modelor (i use 3Ds max 8) and i need to have a little group for to make that game. the game will be finished at end of 2007 or 2008. it's really depending how it will be long to built. you're welcome to join to my project.
