Artist's Comments

This was the frontis for Sonic Comic issue 140 I THINK..Unless they mixed it up since I can't say I recall. It was supposed to be the revised general and his little lackey.

Yeah, what did you use for inking? Where could I get them? This is awesome! The details around the eye make him eeevil....

I just use thinline pens non acidic if I can help it. 0.1 an up for tips. Zig and such, you can find them in most college art sections or blueprinting stores.

Cool! I'm gunna try and get me some! Thanks!

No prob. The non acidic ones are best to keep them from bleeding. Keep in mind, though, that if your pencils are dark and you erase heavily after inking the ink will fade more when it is non acidic. So lighter pencils are a good thing. It actually got me in the mode of clean sketching. My sketches tend to be exactly what I ink so I ink right over the pencil, and no pencil is left showing so I don't need to erase. That's one route but realistcally drawing lightly is the best and fastest way to go. Just don't press too hard with the thinner tips as they can be tweaked and broken that way.

I've always drawn like that too. I don't seem to get that messy with my sketches, unless I want to. (Did that sound...wierd?) But yeah, those seem cool!

Another thing that helps (since I'm blabbing out random crap) when using thinline pens is to use (nyr) a thinline pencil. I use a 0.3 tip mech pencil that i got from a blueprint store as well, using harder lead.
