Kita: Painting Progress Shots by JayAxer Kita: Painting Progress Shots by JayAxer
Asked for again so I figured I may as well comply-
Here are the progress shots I have on hand for the Kita 9th Issue image. I am well aware that it enough from it with the large jumps anyhow. Just another visual on how I go about painting. Again, no, I'm not aiming to make a big explaination/tutorial on it.
This was drawon on typing paper, inked with techpens, scanned and thrown into Painter IX, where I used the round camelhair brush under oils, that's it. Some post was done in Photoshop, including the text on the original image that is not inlcuded in the final shot here.
Thanks, and hope you can take something away from it.

I guess this is pretty much how I imagined you do your pieces: in the most methodical, time consuming, detail-driven way possible! :D But boy, it sure pays off. Awesome work.

Thank you. I love seeing work-in-progress, and breaking the image down like this is, kind of, a way to explain the magic. This reminds me of how your images, your inspirational flow, inspired me to post my own images back when I discovered the internet. Come to think of it, it has been about eight years now. Wow.

Heh... I wish you luck my friend. I see there are large numbers of people with envidious feelings towards you. But that is a good sign :D. Its because you are one of the masters of DA, and maybe on other resourses that I`m not aware of. hehe...God speed my friend.

Neat. I was previously under the impression that you shaded with a method analogous to the photoshop 'darken' blending mode to get such incredible control of values. I love the way you have arranged the colour swatches into progressions (that I guess represent the colour properties of each material at work?) Certainly screams professional! Forever in awe of your work...
